Air Quality in Pima County

Pima Association of Governments is the designated air quality planning agency for the greater Tucson region. PAG works with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Pima County Department of Environmental Quality to develop regional air quality plans. PAG staff conducts modeling and analyses to ensure plans do not adversely affect air quality and that the region will remain in compliance with the EPA’s air pollutant health standards.

Motor vehicle travel, industrial activities, land development patterns and meteorological conditions all affect air quality in the Tucson region.
